RRB Preliminary Exam Syllabus: 2016-2017

RRB Preliminary Exam Syllabus includes four parts:

1.       GENERAL AWARENESS

2.       ARITHMETIC ABILITY

3.       TECHNICAL ABILITY

4.       TEST OF REASONING

1.       General Awareness: General Awareness is a very important part of RRB Pre. Examination. In this Part candidates should know what is going on and become up to date. This part includes:

                           i.            Current Affairs (National and International).

                         ii.            Who is who?

                        iii.            Budget and Fife year Plans.

                       iv.            Important Days and their values.

                         v.            International and National Organizations.

                       vi.            Books and Authors.

                      vii.            Financial and Economic News.

                    viii.            Sports News.

                       ix.            Abbreviations.

                         x.            Science News (Discoveries and Inventions)

                       xi.            Awards and Honors.

                      xii.            Nifty/ Dollar price/ Rupee Price etc.

2.       Arithmetic Ability: This part of examination includes Quantitative and Mathematical questions. In this part candidate’s mathematical and quantitative skills will be checked. This part includes following topics:

                              i.            HCF and LCM.

                            ii.            Ratio and Proportion.

                           iii.            Decimal Fractions.

                          iv.            Percentage.

                            v.            Number System.

                          vi.            Simplifications.

                         vii.            Unitary Method.

                       viii.            Time, Distance and Speed.

                          ix.            Profit and Loss.

                            x.            Average.

                          xi.            Time and Work.

                         xii.             Interest (Simple and Compound).

                       xiii.            Mensuration.

                       xiv.             Data Interpretation.

                        xv.             Algebra.

                       xvi.            Geometry.

3.       Technical Ability: This part includes tricky questions and some technical questions like:

·                  What do you do to become up-to date in your field?

·                  What regular professional or technical reading you do?

·                  What is the most recent and outstanding idea you have learned about in your field, which you get for improvement?

4.       Test of Reasoning: This part is to test the reasoning abilities and mental strength and aptitude of the candidates. This part include following topics:

Verbal

                              i.            Alphabet series.

                            ii.            Coding- Decoding.

                           iii.            Number Series.

                          iv.            Number Ranking.

                            v.            Arithmetical Reasoning.

                          vi.            Blood Relations.

                         vii.            Analogy.

                       viii.            Age Calculation.

                          ix.            Decision making.

Non –Verbal

                              i.            Cubes and Dice.

                            ii.            Mirror Image.

                           iii.            Embedded Figures.

                          iv.            Grouping Figures.etc
